My name is Melanie Lewis, I am the founder and CEO of Code Blue Auditing & Billing Services.   

Skills and Credentials:  AAPC Licensed -Instructor, CPMA, CEMC, CPC, Medical Billing.  EPIC HIM-Coding Senior System Analyst, HCC Risk Adjustment, Outpatient CDI, Medical Auditor, Contract Coding, Radiology Coder and Coding Supervisor  

I have 20 years' experience in the medical coding field. I was a certified Radiology Coder for 5 years which opened my eyes to becoming a CPC. After obtaining my CPC Certification my first job was a Physician Educator.  As an educator I had the opportunity to teach physicians how to properly document E&M Levels.

From that point I wanted to know more about the "behind the scenes" of the (EMR) Electronic Medical Record.  I began a new endeavor as a Senior System Analysts for EPIC.   I obtained 3 Analysts Certifications:  Health Information Management -Coding, Release of Information and Deficiency Tracking.   

Epic is the leading software company that hospitals use for EMR's.  

My love for coding didn't stop there. I accepted another position in Physician Development.  In this role I created coding related presentations, charts, PowerPoints and Tip-Sheets for Physicians.  

A few years later my career took another leap into the Risk Adjustment world as an Outpatient CDI Specialist.  As a CDI Specialists I reviewed encounters for HCC (Hierarchical Condition Categories) documentation.

Becoming a CPC has opened the door to so many opportunities. I have gained a lot of knowledge and skills along the way. I've always found joy in learning new innovative things.  By teaching the CPC course I plan to share my knowledge to help you reach your goal to be a Certified Medical Coder.
